Sheila Brensinger of New Ringgold knew she had the support of her family and friends after she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung and bone cancer, but she wasn't aware of just how much the community supported her, too.
Brensinger was stunned when more than 600 people attended a fundraiser June 13 at the Community Fire Company Grove in New Ringgold to help defray the costs associated with fighting the disease. The event was organized by several of her closest friends and family members and included something for everyone, from a bouncy house for kids to huge amounts of food, games of chance, a Chinese Auction and a horseshoe tournament.Live music filled the air, compliments of the group Justus and DJs Kerry Hamm (Plum Crazy) and Joe Dabashinsky.Brensinger is the owner/operator of Sheila's Magic Hair Beauty Salon, New Ringgold, and a volunteer with the Walker Township/New England Fire Company.
