Man gets jail time in theft case

A former Carbon County resident was sentenced to a county prison term on Tuesday after entering guilty pleas in two pending cases.

Two other defendants in pending criminal matters also entered guilty pleas before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Dietrik Ryan Hosier, 25, of Tunkhannock, and formerly of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each to receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.He admitted to an incident on Oct. 13, 2014, in which he took jewelry from a Lehighton home.He was arrested on Oct. 18, 2014, at the Lehighton Gold and Coin Exchange where he was trying to pawn the jewelry. While being taken into custody drug paraphernalia was found on him which led to the second count.Hosier is currently an inmate at the Lehigh County prison awaiting resentencing on a probation violation.Serfass sentenced him to serve six to one day less 24 months in prison on the receiving charge and one year probation on the drug count, with the terms running consecutively.He was also ordered to make restitution totaling $345, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, supply a DNA sample, and when released perform 150 hours of community service.
