A boy was injured after he was struck by a car while riding his bike along Route 895 in East Penn Township Saturday afternoon.

State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred at 12:03 p.m. while the boy was travelingwest on East Lizard Creek Road at its intersection with Friendship Road in the right shoulder while a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling west in the right-hand lane of travel.The bike entered the right lane of travel attempting to cross over the two lanes of travel, at which time it was struck by the vehicle in the 6 o'clock position.The bike came to rest in the eastbound shoulder.The boy was thrown off the bicycle and landed in the shoulder of the eastbound lane.The boy was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital to be treated for a minor injury. The driver was not injured.Police said the boy will not be charged, as the primary violation is improper left turn.The bike was damaged and was walked home to the owner's house.The vehicle was towed from the scene.
