Upper 3/5 of L.H.S. 'Grads' Can Enter Pa. State College

Superintendent B.B. David of the Lehighton public schools was happy Monday to receive word from William S. Hoffman, registrar of Pennsylvania State College, that in September 1939 he will admit to Penn State any graduate of Lehighton High School ranking in the upper three-fifths of his class, who applies for matriculation in the freshman class.Lehighton High School is one of 81 high schools so privileged out of more than 1,500 secondary public and private schools in Pennsylvania.The Lehighton High rating ranks it 18th in the list, leaving only 17 ahead of it on the preferred roll.The qualifying standard was established through an accurate checking of freshmen classes of the past four years at State College.
