Could Blue Mountain Drive in West Penn Township become one way from Route 309 to Fort Franklin Road?

That was an idea broached by Supervisor Ted Bogosh during the township's board of supervisors meeting on Monday.Bogosh said trucks crowd vehicles on the road, and added that changing to one-way could make the safety issue go away.However, that suggestion was met with plenty of resistance from residents who live along the rural area that is Blue Mountain Drive.One resident said she does not believe the township should have to make any such sacrifice to accommodate others.Another resident questioned where the exit road would be.A resident who has two grandchildren who live on Blue Mountain Drive said it is the township's responsibility to ensure the safety of its roadways.Bogosh noted that the township has previously looked into the matter."We did an engineering study to see what weight that road can handle at one time," Bogosh said.Another resident said supervisors need to look at safety, and added that they should have a study conducted before they approve anything.Bogosh noted that future businesses coming in to the area will have to do a study, and that study will involve road traffic.Supervisor Anthony Prudenti, while alluding to the problem with Blue Mountain Drive and safety, said, "It's an ongoing problem."Throughout the meeting, supervisors told residents that they welcome any suggestions to alleviate the problem.
