Weatherly water report is online

Every year the DEP and the EPA require municipalities with water systems to provide a consumer confidence report to their water customers. The report will include general information on the water system, test results and violations.

"Normally we mail the reports to our residents," said borough manager Harold Pudliner. "This year to save money on postage and professional copying, we will include instructions for residents to go online for the report in with their regular bill."Pudliner estimated that between the postage and the copying costs, the online report will save the borough more than $1,000. The report for 2014, which shows no violations, is available on the borough website, but copies will be available at the borough building for residents who do not have access to a computer. Also discussed during the meeting was the expectation that two new police cruisers will be delivered sometime in July. The new vehicles will be Ford SUVs.The council also voted to approve the use of Eurana Park for the Borough Festival on Aug. 28 and 29. The approval included a beer stand to be placed in the skating rink. Councilman Joseph D'Andrea voted no on the grounds that he did not believe that beer should be served in the park.Council Vice President Norman Richie raised a concern that the township has been unsuccessful in finding applicants interested in part-time police positions within the borough.Councilman Joseph Cyburt made a motion requesting to have the Civil Service Commission provide a new list of potential candidates for future full-time police positions.Cyburt also wanted to thank all of the borough employees who helped make the Weatherly Hillclimb such a success."Every year I know I can come in here and get help, even if it's just to make copies," Cyburt said. "Everybody gets involved, and when people come from out of town and see how involved everyone is, they comment on what a nice place this is.""I want to take this time to thank the flower club as well," Richie said. "The flowers on the bridge look wonderful."Richie also mentioned that a number of residents have asked him about flushing the fire hydrants. The borough did not take any action on the requests due to the ongoing drought. The council approved a motion to purchase a new phone system for borough hall at a cost of $4,225.28. Pudliner said the old phone system is obsolete andmaintenance on the system is over $700 a year.Richie also said the pool at Eurana Park is about halfway full and should be open by the end of this week.Lastly, Richie encouraged any residents who have not yet signed up for the Swift Reach Program to please do so.The borough uses the system to pass on important information such as boil advisories, utility problems and other emergency situations.
