Northwestern’s Justin Holmes had a big day at the plate Monday, hitting three home runs, to help the Tigers remain unbeaten.

Palmerton’s Brock Bollinger also enjoyed a solid game offensively, while Pleasant Valley’s Brandon Ratti turned in a stellar pitching performance.

BASEBALL

Palmerton-Wilson

Brock Bollinger provided the offense, and Connor Beahm took care of the pitching duties as Palmerton rolled to a 13-1 Colonial League victory over Wilson.

Bollinger collected three hits, including a double and homer, and knocked in five runs. After the Blue Bombers exploded for five runs in the first inning, Bollinger slugged a two-run blast in the second to extend the lead.

The runs were more than enough for Beahm, who allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out nine in the five-inning contest.

Palmerton (5-4; 4-3) also received a big game from Cole Serfass, who finished with two hits, four runs and two RBIs. Also contributing were Garrett Horvath and Tyler Stuck, who both had two hits and scored twice.

Blue Mountain-Northwestern

Justin Holmes hit three homers and knocked in seven runs to power undefeated Northwestern to an 11-2 nonleague victory over Blue Mountain.

Rafe Perich opened the scoring in the third with a two-run homer. Two batters later, Holmes also went deep to give the Tigers a 4-0 lead.

Holmes connected for a three-run blast in the fifth and hit No. 3 - a two-run shot - in the sixth.

Perich finished with three hits and three runs scored, and also picked up the win by tossing four shutout innings. Perich allowed just three hits while striking out six.

Northwestern is now 10-0.

Pleasant Valley’s Brandon Ratti outdueled Jeremy Laureano of East Stroudsburg South to lead the Bears to a 2-1 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory.

Ratti went the full seven innings, allowing just five hits and no walks while striking out 13.

The winning pitcher also knocked in the game’s first run in the opening inning as his grounder plated Nathan Loch. The Bears, who only had two hits but walked seven times, added a necessary insurance run in the fifth on an RBI-grounder by Zach Walters. Walters and Andrew Meitzler had the only hits for PV (7-1; 7-1).

Palisades pitcher Jaden Newton held Northern Lehigh in check, leading the Pirates to a 10-0 Colonial League victory.

Newton gave up just three hits and one walk while striking out six.

Nick Petrillo had two hits and knocked in two runs to lead Palisades offensively.

The Bulldogs (0-9; 0-8) received a pair of hits from Chase Misera.

Weatherly-Lincoln LA

Ben Ramirez knocked in four runs, and Jack James dominated on the mound, as Weatherly cruised to a 13-2 nonleague victory over Lincoln Leadership Academy.

Ramirez had two hits and scored twice for the Wreckers, who jumped out to a 4-0 first-inning lead. Jake Solonoski belted a two-run homer in the third to help extend the lead to 8-0.

James allowed four hits and just one earned run while striking out 13.

Yasin Zuberi chipped in with a hit and two runs scored for Weatherly (1-6), which also received 12 walks in the contest.

Northern Lehigh-Palisades

A 19-hit attack powered Northern Lehigh to a 15-6 Colonial League victory over Palisades.

Four Bulldogs hitters - Emma Smith, Bree Hess, Kaitlyn Stock and Hayley Thoder - all finished with three hits. Hess also scored three times, while Smith and Thoder both crossed home twice.

Jordan Hemingway added two hits, one a homer, and knocked in four runs for the winners, who opened the game with a six-run first inning.

Northern Lehigh (3-5; 3-5) also received a pair of hits and two runs from both Haylie Fenstermaker and Julia Wanamaker.

Meghan McLeary had two hits, one a homer, and earned the pitching win as Mahanoy Area gained a 15-5 Schuylkill League victory over Panther Valley.

Autumn Moss, Alex Karmonick and Briana Wagner all finished with two hits for the Golden Bears. McLeary allowed just two hits and struck out six.

PV, which dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the league, received two hits from both Brenna Beshock and Alexis Cooper.

Jim Thorpe-Lehighton

Jim Thorpe and Lehighton split a Schuylkill League track meet.

The Olympian boys posted a 104-41 victory, while the Indian girls registered a 91-59 win.

Thorpe took first in 13 of the 15 individual events in the boys competition, with Ryan Bailor (1600, 3200), Christopher Condly (300H, triple jump), David Richards (110H, high jump) and A.J. Bailor (shot, discus) each posting a pair of wins. Lehighton’s two wins came from Richard Yturrino (100, 400). The JT boys excelled in the field events, outpointing Lehighton by a 48-10 margin.

Abigail Meckes (shot, discus, javelin) captured all three throwing events as the Indians dominated the field events (53-10) in girls action. Megan Aaron added firsts in the long and triple jumps, while Kelsey Gaston won the 1600 and 3200.

The Olympians received a pair of firsts from Kaila O’Connor (100, 200).

Claire Costa tallied once and added a helper, while other goals were scored by Sarah Schultz, Alexa Bleam, Sara Ledeboer, Bailey Scheffler and Charlotte Horn.

Jim Thorpe won both singles matches in straight sets to help gain a 4-0 victory over Pottsville.
