Carbon driver in turnpike crash

A Carbon County driver was involved in a hit-and-run crash on the northeast extension of the turnpike. State police at Pocono said the crash occurred at 1:35 p.m. on March 24 in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County.

Troopers said Piotr Kesek, 27, of Lehighton, was driving a 2005 Acura Legend southbound in the left lane and attempting to pass another vehicle, which was in the right lane. As Kesek’s vehicle passed the other vehicle she lost control of her vehicle due to driving too fast for conditions, troopers said. She failed to maintain her lane of travel and sideswiped the other vehicle, a commercial truck. The Acura then left the travel lanes, striking a drainage ditch along the berm. The other driver fled the scene.

Kesek and her passenger, Jackie L. Harmady, 29, of Palmerton, were not injured. The Acura was towed.
