Easter services

• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Church will have Masses at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. with Communion until 12:15 p.m. At 3 p.m. there will be a Spanish Mass.

The 11 a.m. Mass will be livestreamed on Facebook, YouTube or available in the parking lot at 90.5 FM on the car radio.

• Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, Easter Sunday services at 9 and 11 a.m.

• St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, will begin the day with a sunrise service at 6 a.m. in the grove. Dressing warmly is advised. Feel free to bring a chair or use one of the church benches. The worship leaders will be set up in the gazebo and worshippers are free to spread out in the grove or remain in the car and listen by radio. The offering will be taken up as one enters.

Attendees are reminded to bring Communion elements from home or pick up prepackaged elements with the bulletin when entering the grove.

The second Easter service, a traditional service at 9 a.m., will include the sacrament of baptism, receiving of new members and observing the sacrament of Holy Communion.

The sanctuary is limited to 57 people, so overflow seating will be available in the Gathering Room and Social Hall.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effort is having an Easter service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. All CDC guidelines are followed. The regular Sunday services are held at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday, with Communion celebrated the first Sunday of each month.

• St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will proclaim: He is Risen, Alleluia, at a 10 a.m. service Easter Sunday. Pastor Ed Bean’s sermon will be: Breaking the Boundaries!

Holy Communion will be offered in a safe and sanitary manner.

Christian Education classes continue prior to the worship hour at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. Call 570-992-7311 for more information.

• Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will worship in-person at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday with CDC precautions observed. There is a Zoom option for the 8 a.m. worship and Facebook Live for the 10:30 service. This schedule is to continue for the remaining Sundays in April.

TOPS resumes

TOPS PA 1113 Kresgeville (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will resume meeting on April 7 at Cherry’s Family Restaurant at 6 p.m. The meetings are held in the rear banquet room.

New members are being accepted. Anyone who is interested in weight loss can come for a free introductory meeting.

Rebate program

Older and disabled Pennsylvanians can now apply for rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2020.

Applicants should visit mypath.pa.gov to electronically submit their applications.

Senior Spellers

The Senior Spelling Bee is tentatively scheduled to be held from 1 to 3 p.m. June 24, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville in the fellowship hall. One has to be a Monroe County resident and be at least 55 years of age.

Polk Planting

The Monroe County Garden Club will be doing a weeping willow planting in honor of Arbor Day at 10:30 a.m. April 30 at the Polk Township Walking Park.

The park is next to the Polk Township Municipal Building, 165 Polk Township Road, Kresgeville.

The public is welcome and can bring chairs. Light refreshments will be served.
