Lower Towamensing Township plans to enter into an intermunicipal agreement to supply water to 53 residences of the Stone Ridge Manor water system.

The township's board of supervisors unanimously agreed on Tuesday to advertise for adoption the agreement with the Bowmanstown Borough Authority.Township solicitor Jim Nanovic said the purpose of the agreement is to provide an extension of the Authority's service area into a particular portion of the township to supply water, as outlined in the agreement, to the 53 residences now or formerly customers of the Stone Ridge Manor water system, and to be served by the Authority, pursuant to the terms and conditions of the agreement. The Authority recently purchased the Tri-Valley Water System - which services Stone Ridge Manor in the township - from Craig Sanders.A loan was taken out for the purchase of the system, which cost $175,000. The Authority has stated that residents will not incur an increase in water fees to cover its cost.Formed in 1997, the Authority controls the borough's water system. In other business, supervisors:• Awarded various stone and blacktop bids.• Granted AT&T an extension until July 31, 2014.• Granted permission to township tax collector Connie Brown to attend a PA State Association of Township Supervisors convention for one day, and to be reimbursed for mileage.• Approved, on a 2-1 vote, a traffic sign inventory webinar.
