The first order of business for the Parryville Borough council meeting on Monday night was the cleanup of a car crash that took place late Sunday night.

According to Mayor Dean Emrey, a vehicle was traveling on North Fireline Road "very fast" up hill before ending over an embankment in a small creek located behind residents' homes."A wrecker had to pull it out," he said.The fire department put down absorbent, tube-shaped materials to soak up fluids that may have escaped the vehicle and leaked into the water."I called EWMI Rapid Response Inc., and they said we can have our crew come pick up the 'socks' and throw them in the garbage," Emrey said. "The vehicle's driver's insurance will be billed for the cleanup expenses."Soon road repairs will take place in the borough, starting with a well-known potholes after the warmth of spring sets in."I spoke to the road crew about two weeks ago," said Councilman Ralph Washburn. "We are waiting another week or so because of the cold weather to repair pothole issues."Councilman Washburn told the board there is a pothole close to a foot deep on Fireline Road that needs immediate attention."We are aware of it," he said.The board also discussed concerns about speeding cars on the newly repaved area. The board will look to add caution signs for children playing along the busy road."When the engineer comes to look at the roads in the spring we will ask him to see about a sign," Washburn said.
