Dr. John DeMatte is one of 10 leading figures in the history of skiing in the state who have been selected for induction into the Hall of Fame of the Pennsylvania Ski and Winter Sports Museum.
One of the founders of organized ski racing in the state and a leader in the Pennsylvania Alpine Racing Association, the Lehighton man will be among those honored at a special luncheon in May at the Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Champion.
DeMatte is credited with developing a junior racing program at the Jack Frost Ski Area, which started with eight participants in 1975 and flourished into a major event.
