Defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Monday in Carbon County court.

Nanovic presided.Jail termChristine Annette Lotis, 50, of Bath, was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in jail.She was arrested on Oct. 15, 2015, along Route 443 in East Penn Township by state police at Lehighton following a crash in which she fled the scene. A charge of fleeing and eluding, a felony 3, was dropped in a plea agreement. However, in exchange for the plea bargain Lotis must serve a longer time than the mandatory minimum for the DUI charge.Nanovic also imposed a fine of $1,500 and a one-year license suspension.She will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. Fridayand serve it on consecutive two-day weekends for the next 15 weekends.Richard A. Neaus, 52, of Nuremberg, Schuylkill County was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in prison.He was arrested on June 11, 2015, along North First Street by Mahoning Township police. Police responded to a hit-and-run incident in which Neaus was involved. A test showed 0.23 BAC.He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and make restitution of $224.84 to the township.He will begin the jail term at 7 a.m. Friday.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and follow all recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.Enters pleaKayla Marie Leibowitz, 27, of Lansford, entered a guilty plea to one count of DUI. She was arrested on Oct. 21, 2015, along Bertsch Street in Lansford by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Leibowitz could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation. She was scheduled to be sentenced on two drug counts but that proceeding was also deferred.
