The Tamaqua Area School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2016-17 school year from March 14 through March 16 at the Tamaqua Elementary School, and March 17 at the West Penn Elementary School.

Appointments may be made by calling 570-668-3306, beginning Feb. 29, between the hours of 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.Registration packets will be available starting Feb. 16 at both elementary facilities. Forms are also available at the district's website,

www.tamaqua.K12.pa.us.Children who will be 5 on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year.Parents/guardians are advised to bring necessary immunization records to the registration appointment. Proof of immunizations must be provided before a child will be admitted to school.State law requires that all children entering school for the first time must have written proof of the following immunizations: four doses of tetanus; four doses of diphtheria; three doses of polio; two doses of measles; two doses of mumps; one dose of rubella (German measles); three doses of hepatitis B; and two doses of varicella (chickenpox) or a record of having chickenpox.Students will be evaluated by a classroom teacher, a nurse and a speech therapist at the time of the registration appointment.
