February 23, 1997 - John Polischak of St. Mike’s of Lansford scores seven of his nine points in the first quarter to help the West build a huge lead and cruise to a 62-32 victory over the East in the 32nd annual District 5 CYO boys eighth grade All-Star game at Marian High School. David Kruger, also from St. Mike’s, adds seven points during the opening period as the West bolts to a 23-2 advantage. Kruger ends with 12 points and earns the Stanley “Jake” Kozuch Award for being the game’s MVP. The winners also receive 14 points from Stan Dick of St. Jerome’s of Tamaqua. For the East, Brent Hudson of St. John Neumann of Palmerton scores a team-high eight points.
