Business award to be presented in Tamaqua

Do you or someone you know have what it takes to become Tamaqua's Business Person of the Year for 2015? If so, the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce wants to hear from you.

At this year's annual community dinner, the Tamaqua Chamber will honor one Tamaqua area business person who has shown interest in advancing the economic, industrial, professional, cultural and civic welfare of the Tamaqua area."We wanted to highlight the impact that a business person can have on the entire community through their hard work and dedication to grow their own business, create jobs, drive innovation and improve our overall economic outlook here in the Tamaqua area," said Linda Yulanavage, executive director of the Tamaqua Chamber.Written nominations for the award can be sent to the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce at 114 W. Broad St., and must be received no later than noon Friday.The chamber invites everyone to submit a letter of nomination.The nomination must include information about how the nominee's work fits the criteria for the award. The award is open to anyone whose business is located within the Tamaqua Area School District, without regard to the size of the business or number of locations or employees.The recipient will be selected by a committee, consisting of several members of the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce. The award will be presented during the Chamber's Community Dinner, scheduled to be held April 22 at Mountain Valley Golf Course.The chamber is now taking reservations for the dinner, which will also feature this year's Community Progress Report Book and the presentation of the 2015 Joseph M. Plasko Citizenship Award.The chamber plans to honor a Tamaqua area business person annually.More information on the awards or the dinner is available by calling the chamber at 570-668-1880.
