An unexpected incident has affected water lines in portions of Coaldale and Lansford.

As a result, residents of both communities are under a 48-hour water boil advisory issued by the Lansford-Coaldale Joint Water Authority. The advisory does not include the Lake Hauto areas.The problem involves a PRV, a pressure reducing valve, according to an authority spokesman. The valve hit a high spike in pressure, causing some of the weaker, galvanized lines to blow out, including a break to a line in the Seek section of Coaldale.
