History buffs with a penchant for Lehighton history should plan to shape up for round two.

The Lehighton 150 Celebration Committee will hold The History of Lehighton, Part 2, at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pfc. Clyde R. Houser Jr. Building/Borough Annex.Lehighton's Sesquicentennial will occur next year. The committee wants to raise $55,000 for an eight-day celebration to commemorate the 150 years of the borough. The festivities are scheduled for June 25-July 2, 2016.This week, we'll once again be publishing tidbits of Lehighton history in conjunction with the celebration committee.TODAY'S FACTS:• The first basketball games in Lehighton were played at the Lehighton Fire Company 2 before the construction of the original high school in 1915-16.• In September 1911, James Blakeslee organized the Boys Band to lead the parades for the Fire Company 2, which he also started.• George Geisel, who owned a Blacksmith shop in the early 1900s, had a patent on a nut that would not work loose when used on a carriage or wagon axle, as well as a patent on a horseshoe.Look for more tidbits of history to be published every day through Friday.
