Local Roundup: Results from Jan. 22

The Jim Thorpe and Weatherly boys basketball teams extended their winning streaks on Friday.

The Olympians defeated Lehighton for their third straight win, while the Wreckers have now won six consecutive games.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Jim Thorpe-Lehighton

Kaiden Herron’s 25 points led Jim Thorpe in a 64-54 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton.

Derryl Fisher added 19 points for the Olympians (3-4), who lost to the Tribe in the season opener (39-35).

Richard Yturrino paced the Indians (3-3) with 19 points, while Zach Hunsicker added 15.

Lehighton won the JV game, 31-20.

Weatherly knocked off Schuylkill Haven 61-54 for its sixth-straight win.

Scotty Zoscin scored 20 points, including 13 in the final quarter, to help the Wreckers (6-1; 3-1) seal the victory. Zoscin also went 9-for-9 from the foul line. Antonio Colecio added 21 points, including 11 straight in the second quarter, and Trevor Lowman scored 11.

Mason Ulsh had a game-high 31 points for the Hurricanes (1-2).

Northwest rolled to a 48-23 non-league win over Weatherly.

Charleigh Miner led all scorers with 17 points for Northwest, scoring 11 points in the first quarter. Northwest hit 12 threes in the game and led 23-0 after the first quarter.

Ashley James and Brianna Pugh both scored eight points for the Wreckers (1-6).
