Packer receives $10,000 check for park use
Packer Township received a $10,000 check from the Andreuzzi family foundation for use in the Joseph Andreuzzi park. The gift was announced as part of their January supervisors meeting. A thank you will be sent. Discussion about park upkeep and improvement will determine what the money will be used for.
The agreement with Weatherly Borough to continue fire protection coverage from Citizens Fire Company #1 is still not complete.
Supervisor Bob Selert will see that a check is sent under the previous agreement while meetings take place for the new one. Weatherly is seeking more money each year for coverage, ideally a match of the amount per household Weatherly Borough homes pay, plus a commitment to contribute to a needed new firetruck to be purchased in 2021. Selert will reach out to Weatherly Borough Manager Harold Pudliner to schedule a meeting.
Supervisors approved a tax rate that remains steady for 2021 at 0.5 mills for general purposes, 0.1 mill for the special fund, 0.7 for fire protection, 0.5% for earned income and 0.5% for real estate transfers, plus $5 per capita.
The declaration of disaster emergency related to COVID was extended into mid-March.
Reorganization keeps Cory Gerhard as Chairman, Terry Davis as Vice Chairman, and Selert as roadmaster. Supervisors meetings continue on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. except for this meeting and on Monday in November. All wages remained the same.
Myron Tarapchak’s term on the Zoning Hearing Board ended and he will step down. Neil Craig was appointed to the position. Gerard Grega was appointed as an alternate.
The next regular meeting will be Feb. 2 via Zoom at 6 p.m.
