LVHN plans vaccine clinic at Dorney

Lehigh Valley Health Network provided a vaccine update Wednesday and said the network will set up a mass vaccination site at Dorney Park.

The health network will monitor federal and state vaccine guidelines and work to use vaccine as quickly as possible. On Tuesday alone, LVHN vaccinated more than 3,200 people and is ready to vaccinate even more if vaccine supply permits.

The fastest way for community members to receive the COVID-19 vaccine is to either enroll in or update their MyLVHN account. Once you are registered, the network will send a message via MyLVHN when you are eligible to schedule your vaccination.

LVHN has extensive mass immunization experience, hosting drive-through flu shot clinics for nearly two decades, where we have vaccinated as many as 8,000 people in one day. We will apply that experience to large-scale drive-through COVID-19 vaccine events throughout the region, to supplement existing vaccination locations.

The tents for COVID-19 mass immunization are now in place at Dorney Park in Lehigh County, with operations to start on appropriate groups as soon as the network has sufficient vaccine and the go-ahead from the state.

Other sites in Northampton and Monroe counties will soon be established in coordination with local Health Bureaus and authorities. An appointment will be needed to receive the vaccine.

LVHN is continuing to vaccinate those considered at highest risk and most vulnerable in the first tier of the COVID-19 vaccination protocol.

“We have vaccinated our high-risk, frontline workers as well as others within our health network who want the vaccine and continue to do so,” said Brian Nester, DO, MBA, FACOEP, LVHN’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “As we continue that process in keeping with the CDC and state guidelines, we also are beginning to care for others who are most vulnerable in our community outside of our hospitals, those in long-term care facilities who are considered among the highest risk.”

The network plans to vaccinate at least 5,000 people per day when the vaccine supply is adequate.

The COVID vaccine hotline is also available at 484-884-1767.

LVHN will offer free COVID-19 vaccinations to the community when supply becomes available.

Even after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, people will need to continue to wear masks, wash hands frequently and stay socially distant until the majority of the community is vaccinated. For more details about vaccines, visit LVHN.org/vaccines.
