Lehighton has been selected by the Post Office Department as a supply station for the aeroplane mall route which the government is establishing between New York and Chicago. The service, which has been more or less in experimental operation for some time, is to become regular on or about Nov. 1.After leaving New York there will be five way stations - Lehighton, Bellefonte and Clarion in Pennsylvania and Cleveland and Bryan in Ohio. The Lehighton station building will be located at the Fair Grounds and will be 40 feet wide, 60 feet long and 80 feet high in the clear and open at both ends. The size makes it large enough to hold two airplanes, one of which will be on hand constantly and ready for use in case of a breakdown.Besides this, there will be an outbuilding for supplies, tools, machinery, etc., and there will be at least three men in charge. Fourth Assistant Postmaster General Blakeslee was in town last week and completed arrangements for the station.
