Nature walks set in Schuylkill

Conservation volunteer David Kruel will lead a bird walk at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. The walk will begin at Locust Lake State Park visitor parking lot.

Kruel will offer helpful information about how to identify the local and migratory songbirds by sight, song, habitat and behavior. The free walk is sponsored by the Schuylkill Conservancy. Those attending are encouraged to bring along binoculars. This is not a pet-friendly walk. Shine only.Naturalist Robin Tracey from Tuscorora State Park will lead a hike at Swatara State Park on Sept. 16. The trail is 8 miles in length and moderate. The trail runs parallel to Swatara Creek and fossil bed. Hike to Bordner cabin and crossing the new bridge across Swatara Creek.Meet in the parking lot on Swopes Valley Road, just off Route 443 in Suedberg at 10:30 a.m. Bring a lunch and water.
