The Lansford Historical Society will hold its annual open house from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the society's museum, located at 117 E. Bertsch St.
The society will commemorate the 140th anniversary of Lansford Borough's incorporation in 1876 with the unveiling of the recently completed "Lansford Area Historical Timeline," which encompasses an entire wall in the museum and lists the history of Lansford by dates of significant events and happenings from the beginning to present day.Also new this year will be a special tribute to the Palace and Victoria theaters, consisting of original artifacts including movie posters, tickets, equipment and more.In addition to the numerous exhibits at the museum, a new concept this year is the guest collector case. Local collector and barber Frank Gustus will be the first to display his personal collection of interesting antique and vintage barber items.Bob Perrin, local bottle historian and privy digger, will be on hand to talk about digging for bottles and the most extensive Lansford bottle collection in existence. Perrin also has many new items displayed in the Coaldale Corner.Admission is free, refreshments will be served, and the museum is now handicapped accessible with a newly installed chairlift to the museum area.
