While searching cellar storage, Eric Zizelmann discovered two lanterns from the old horse-drawn hearse used in Tamaqua's earliest days. Zizelmann, shown here May 22, thinks the lanterns had been stored away by his late grandfather, Conrad Bischoff Zizelmann. He intends to reuse the lanterns rather than keep them stored and out of sight. The Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home traces its roots backto 1857, when Conrad Bischoff emigrated from Bavaria, and shortly after opened a cabinet and wooden box factory.
