The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced a safety improvement project is under way on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

The project includes high friction surface treatment at various locations, shoulder reconstruction, new signs and pavement markings, vegetation removal and other construction on Route 209 between Frable and Lesh roads and between Gilbert Road and Leslie Drive.Motorists may experience sporadic off-peak lane restrictions and flagging. Traffic should be alert for changing traffic patterns and use caution when traveling through work zones.Work is expected to be complete in September.
