Lehighton Area Middle School will hold a free summer band concert at 10 a.m. Friday in the multipurpose room at Shull-David.

The sixth-eighth grade combined band will perform several pieces, including "Twist and Shout" and the recent hit "You Raise Me Up." Selected clarinet, saxophone, flute and low brass students will be featured during the small ensemble portion of the concert.The highlight of the morning will be the first performance of the beginner band. This group of students, who began learning how to play a band instrument on June 13, will perform in public for the first time. The beginners will demonstrate what they have learned so far in their brief musical careers.Aaron Sebelin, the principal at Shull-David and Mahoning elementary schools, will narrate this portion of the program.A simple reception will follow.
