Resort sued
A Carbon County skiing resort has been named defendant in a civil suit seeking damages.
The plaintiffs in the action are Theresa and William Korn, 733 S. 25th St., Allentown, who filed on behalf of their minor son, Alexander A. Korn. Defendants named were Blue Mountain Resort Management LLC, 1660 Blue Mountain Drive, Palmerton, and Otto’s Camping Resort & R.V. Center Inc., 2600 The Fidelity Building, Philadelphia.
The suit states on Feb. 28 the minor plaintiff was on a school field trip to the ski resort and engaged in snow tubing.
The suit states that the minor plaintiff and the rest of his group were caused to slide down a hill in a tube in his own demarcated lane of travel. At the bottom of the hill after the plaintiff’s tube came to a full stop it is alleged that two tubes, tied together, were improperly released from the top of the mountain in the plaintiffs’ lane. The tubes, the suit states, “violently collided” with the minor plaintiff causing serious injuries detailed in the suit. The suit notes it was the first time the minor plaintiff had engaged in snow tubing.
Negligence is alleged against the defendants and sought are damages in excess of $50,000.
