When Nesquehoning residents go to the borough post office, they mostly likely will be served by Michael DeMichael.
The Nesquehoning native has worked in the post office since April 27, 1985.To honor the man who is one of the faces of the United States Postal Service, postmaster Robin Manjone honored DeMichael with a certificate and 30-year pin on Monday morning."He is really a phenomenal employee," Manjone said, noting that over the two years she has been postmaster, DeMichael has been one of the best employees to work with."He is so knowledgeable of the community, his customers and of the post office's policies and procedures in general," she said. "He is very friendly and courteous, reliable and dependable. Michael is awesome."DeMichael, who with a grin said that he is a man of few words when it comes to talking about his experiences, said that he can't pick just one thing about his job that he likes best."I enjoy my job," he said. "I enjoy greeting the customers every day and doing the best job for them. I also have wonderful co-workers."DeMichael began his journey in the postal service after his cousin told him about it over three decades ago. The position sounded interesting so he applied and took the test.The rest is history.DeMichael can now be found either sorting mail, serving customers or doing other odds and ends jobs around the post office, located along West Catawissa Street.
