August 13, 1962

Officers and men of the 165th Military Police Battalion were welcomed home by residents of Lehighton and Carbon County as the unit officially returned from federal service that included a 10-month operation in North Fort Polk, Louisiana. The day's activities were attended by members of the Armory Board, including William Garrett, chairman; Wilbur G. Warner and George Freeby; Col. Richard Snyder, assistant adjutant general; Lt. Col. Kenneth Snyder, commanding officer; Maj. S. Walter Menzger; and Maj. Charles Yenser.

The officers and men of the battalion were guests at a dance and reception held at the American Legion Post Home that evening.
