Commissioners approve agreements

Carbon County commissioners approved a number of appointments, agreements and personnel actions on Thursday. Actions included:

Area Agencyon Aging• Ratify an agreement that Carbon County will assume the duties of fiscal manager for the Link Program Network for the program period of July 1 to June 30, 2016.• Approve an agreement with Dawn Edwards of White Haven to serve as the Carbon County lead Link coordinator, created by a federally mandated and funded program at a rate of $25 per hour, not to exceed $26,000. The agreement term is from July 1 to June 30, 2016 and will be renewable annually if funding is available.• Approve an agreement with Julie Rovinski-Mann of Jim Thorpe to serve as the Carbon County Link coordinator, created by a federally mandated and funded program at a rate of $22 per hour, not to exceed $22,800. The agreement term is from July 1 to June 30, 2016 and will be renewable annually if funding is available.Emergency Management• Approve the 2015 Emergency Management Performance Grant for funding to support salaries and benefits of the EMA coordinator and administrative assistant. The estimated amount is $65,027.Conflict counsel• Approve an addenda to the agreement for professional services as conflict counsel in criminal and juvenile matters pending before the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas. The addenda revises the agreements from Aug. 22, 2013 with attorneys Robert S. Frycklund, Adam Weaver and Strubinger Law PC for the remaining term, expiring Aug. 31, and any additional assignments above the 40 original cases will be paid at a rate of $625 per assignment.Boards and authorities• Approve the resignation of Sally Watson of Lehighton from the Children and Youth Advisory Board.Personnel• Approve the prison board appointments of Cara H. Highfield of Nesquehoning; Shea C. Kelchner of Slatington; Jason K. Pfleiderer of Lehighton and Jared T. Welsh of Tamaqua, as part-time corrections officers, effective Aug. 31.
