Lehighton may look to replace the roof on its fire company building.
Borough council on a 6-0 vote Monday agreed to have borough engineer Bruce Steigerwalt put together specs to do the entire roof of Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1.
Steigerwalt said the roof that’s on the social quarters was put on in December 1993 with a 30-year shingle.
“They’re basically getting pretty close to their life span,” Steigerwalt said.
Steigerwalt said that at the request of council, the borough received two roofing proposals, but both were only for the upper roof, which doesn’t include the entire roof area that was originally installed in 1993.
Councilman Ryan Saunders said he would seek a bid for 30 years.
Last month, council agreed to advertise to accept bids for the fire station No. 1 roof replacement.
