The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported Thursday that there were 2,900 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 220,566. This is the highest daily increase of cases.
There are 8,937 deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 47 new deaths reported. In nursing and personal care homes, there are 26,902 resident cases of COVID-19, and 5,785 cases among employees, for a total of 32,687 at 1,100 distinct facilities in 63 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,860 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
• Carbon County is reporting 661 cases, an increase of 17 cases since Monday. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 remain at 32.
• Lehigh County is reporting 7,180 cases, an increase of 93. On additional death has been reported for a total of 370.
• Luzerne County reported an increase of 67 cases, bringing the total to 5,861. Deaths remain at 209.
• Monroe County has 25 new cases, bringing the total to 2182. Deaths remain at 135.
• Northampton County has 5,826 cases, an increase of 48 cases. An additional death has been reported for a total of 316.
• Schuylkill County has 2,336 cases, an increase of 29 cases. Six additional deaths have been reported for a total of 108.
