CCTI reports COVID-19 case

Carbon Career and Technical Institute reported that someone who attended school tested positive for COVID-19. Administrative Director David Reinbold sent a message to students and families on Wednesday stating that the school had learned of the positive test that day.

The school said that person who tested positive has not been in the school building in the last 14 days, and no students were identified as being at risk.

The school remains open for staff and students.

Reinbold said that the school contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Health immediately after becoming aware of the positive test, and determined that no students were at risk, and there was no need for a quarantine.

CCTI continues to disinfect its facilities on a daily basis, and Reinbold said students and staff have been working to maintain a healthy environment.

CCTI has a health screening tool which students and staff use before coming to school each day.

“Staying home when sick or when exhibiting symptoms not only keeps you safe, but also minimizes the risk of infection or quarantine by others,” the letter said.

The district previously had one other case of COVID-19, reported on Oct. 16. School officials said that person had also been out of the building for 14 days when the case was reported.
