The Schuylkill County commissioners voted to spend $21,750 for 15 touch-free water coolers and drinking fountains Wednesday.

Money from capital projects upgrades will pay for the cost. Antz Energy Systems Inc., Shenandoah, will do the work.

Schuylkill County Administrator Gary Bender said the project didn’t have to be bid out because the solicitor’s office determined it was a “health and safety” aspect. The term of the contract is from Jan. 1 through April 15.

Commissioner Gary Hess did not attend the meeting.
