Carbon County commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners, on Thursday, acted on the following items:

• Approved a modification request to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for additional funds in the amount of $30,767 for Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental funding. The additional funds would be used to purchase more personal protective equipment for law enforcement agencies and handheld scanners for adult probation.

• Approved an agreement Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission, Lehighton to provide drug and alcohol treatment counseling services for the inmate population at the Carbon County Correctional Facility from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2021 at a cost of $54,000, paid through the commissary funds.

• Approved a request from Warden Timothy Fritz to accept the proposal from NUCTECH U.S. Inc. of Burlington, Massachusetts for a body scanner inspection system. The total cost is $118,000 and will be paid through the commissary funds.

• Approved a proclamation recognizing November as Epilepsy Awareness Month in Carbon County.

• Ratified a resolution honoring Elissa Garofalo, president of the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor for the 2020 Carbon County Friends of Scouting, Distinguished Citizens Award.
