LB Morris staffer tests positive

A staff member at LB Morris School recently tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, Jim Thorpe Area School District announced on Wednesday.

Five other staff members are in quarantine at this time.

In a message sent to families, Superintendent John Rushefski said that it was determined that the school did not have to close at this time.

Rushefski said that the Pennsylvania Department of Health will be contacting anyone who is determined to have been a close contact with the person who tested positive.

Close contacts will have to quarantine themselves.

He added that the school has been cleaned and disinfected and is safe for occupancy.

District officials said the person last attended school on Monday.

Over the summer the district canceled football workouts for 14 days after a player tested positive for the virus.

In its message to families and staff the district reminded anyone to stay home if they are feeling sick, and always take steps to avoid spreading the virus.
