The Eldred Township supervisors made a few major changes at Wednesday evening's board meeting. The first change was to terminate the new township solicitor, Ronald Karasek, who was appointed on Jan. 11. Karasek will be replaced by attorney Michael Gaul, who is also the solicitor for the Planning Commission.
Gaul is a partner in the King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul law firm. Gaul was in attendance at the meeting and immediately took his position.Chairwoman Mary Anne Clausen also made a motion to terminate township zoning officer Ellerslie Helm as of June 10. The board then approved the appointment of Shawn McGlynn of SFM of Walnutport to act as township zoning officer. McGlynn will have office hours twice a week. McGlynn's rate is $65 per hour.Clausen also made a motion to appoint Mike Kaspszyk as chairman of the vacancy board.James Lieding was appointed to the planning commission. Both of these positions were vacated when Gary Hoffman was appointed to replace Supervisor Sharon Solt.Lastly, the township, on a motion from supervisor Hoffman, voted to use the Times News to place their legal advertisements going forward.The township will be holding a public meeting on June 27 to elicit ideas from the residents on ways to use a number of properties owned by the township. These include Mock Park property, the old post office, the community center and the railway bed trail. The meeting will be at the municipal building at 7:30 p.m.
