Palmerton Borough Council took the following action last week:
• An agreement with Carbon County Commissioners for receipt of COVID-19 county relief Block Grant funds in the amount of $17,404.
• A five-year lease with Carbon County for Municipal Services Building floors two and three.
• Announced that the borough received a recycling grant in the amount of over $5,400.
• Accepted the notice of retirement of public works supervisor Barry Scherer, with his last day of work April 21, 2021.
• Appointed Linda Duyka and Christal Benninger as part-time crossing guards at the rate of $10 per hour.
• Approved fire company membership appointments to Brianna Kroboth and Matthew Georlitz.
• Mayor Bill Gallagher announced that he will be trick-or-treating from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Palmerton Police building at Fourth and Delaware Avenue. He said those who stop by the police building can take a look at the police department’s newest cruiser.
• Announced that council’s November meetings will be held on the first and third Thursday of the month.
