A Carbon County man pleaded guilty on Friday in the county court to two counts of sexual assault.
Nicholas Sergi, 21, of Summit Hill, pleaded in two cases to one count each of statutory sexual assault, a felony 2, and corruption of a minor, a felony 3.
He was charge by Summit Hill police for an incident in May 2019, admitting he had consensual sexual intercourse with a then 13-year-old female. The second case involved the same female. Sergi admitted having sexual intercourse with her at a location in Nesquehoning. In the latter case Sergi said he had sex with the girl on two occasions in July 2019. In both cases the mother of the female reported the incidents to police.
Police reports indicate that when confronted by police of the allegations, Sergi admitted to the incidents.
He is currently an inmate in the county prison on the charges and entered his plea via video conference from the jail to President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.
Defense attorney Paul J. Levy, of the public defender’s office, told the court his client has a learning disability. Nanovic questioned Sergi concerning the disability to make sure he knew what he was pleading to before the court.
Sergi told the court he understood everything that was going on and to what charges he was admitting. He also told the court he was in the process of attempting to move to Mount Pocono. However, he is in the prison on the charges, unable to post bail.
Nanovic deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
