The Sesquicentennial Parade begins at noon Saturday in Lehighton, as part of the closing day of the 150 celebration.

It begins at Seventh and Coal, heads to Second, to Iron and finishes at the Grove.A few highlights:• Leading the Lehighton Sesquicentennial Parade is the Lehighton Police Department.Since the inception of the Borough of Lehighton on 1866, there has been organized police service. The Lehighton Police Department is led by Chief Brian Biechy.• The Pennsylvania State Police was formed on May 2,1905 and began on horseback. Horses have been used throughout history in various forms, from patrol, State Police Rodeo Drill Team, to today's Tactical Mounted Unit.The Mounted Unit consists of 25 horses stabled at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey and 30 riders assigned to various locations throughout the state.The American flag will be carried by Cpl. Brad Zook, riding Mr. Guffman, carrying the Pennsylvania flag is trooper Sean Duffy, riding Isaac.Riding next to them will be trooper Dave Beam riding Onyx and trooper Marc Fischer riding Joker.• Gordon Ripkey and Lamont "Mike" Ebbert, both former educators in the Lehighton Area School District were selected to be the Sesquicentennial Parade grand marshals for their historical knowledge and dedication to the heritage of Lehighton.• The Lehighton Fire Department, one of the Sesquicentennial's Millennial Sponsors, has provided fire and rescue Services to Lehighton and surrounding communities since 1874.• The Citizen of the Century will be unveiled.• 1979 Antique Pierce Mini Pumper firetruck, owned by Jeff and Connie Reigel of Tamaqua. The truck is fully equipped with firefighting equipment as it would have been in 1979. It has a 250-gallon water tank and a 500 gallon per minute pump.• 28th Division Infantry Band, Pennsylvania's oldest music performance group with a history of uninterrupted service of more than 60 years. At present, the 28th Infantry Division Band is located at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home and is under the command of WO1 Aaron Burkle. The band takes extreme pride in their history of service to the commonwealth of Pennsylvania and to the United States of America.• Mr. & Mrs. Sesquicentennial, Lehighton's "honorary couple," portrayed by John and Sarah Dalton, who were dressed in historic period costume and appeared at events throughout the celebration.• The City of Bethlehem Bagpipe Band and Drum Corps.• Heisler's Milk Wagon.
