Mendez seeks re-election as a Lower Towamensing supervisor

Lower Towamensing Township Supervisor Jesse Mendez of 445 Drift Road in Palmerton will be running for re-election on the Democratic ticket in the May 19 primary election. Mendez has been a resident of Lower Towamensing Township since 1964.

He is married to the former Dorothy Meckes, and they have two children, Sherry Breiner and Todd Mendez.Mendez, who graduated from Palmerton High School, is a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy, four years active and eight years reserve, and is retired from Mack Trucks after 33 years.He has been a township supervisor for over 20 years.He serves on the County Solid Waste Advisory Committee, the County Action Committee and formerly as a County Cooperative Extension Board member of 4-H. He is a life member of the VFW Post 7136 in Palmerton, West End Fire Company in Palmerton and the Blue Ridge Rod and Gun Club. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Township Supervisors and the Carbon County Township Supervisors Association, where he served as president and continues to be an active member.As a township supervisor, Mendez is proud of the fact that they have maintained annual budgets without a property tax increase for over 10 years. Both the Zoning and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinances have been updated, and he plans to continue to work diligently on the township's Act 537 plan to bring central sewage to select areas of the township. Mendez is especially proud of the good working relationship with and the quality and experience of the township's employees and hopes to continue this in his next term.
