2 women face drug charges

Two Carbon County women face drug charges after Nesquehoning police were called for a suspicious vehicle in the borough.

According to affidavits filed by Nesquehoning officer Kyle Sabulsky, at 9:35 p.m. on Aug. 1, officers were dispatched to the unit block of West Garibaldi Avenue in the New Columbus section of the borough for a vehicle that was parked.

He observed the vehicle still running and approached it.

Sabulsky spoke with the woman in the driver’s seat, whom he recognized as Jessica Johnston, 36, of the 300 block of Lehigh Avenue, Palmerton. He asked her about reports from residents that she was selling drugs, which she denied and agreed to a vehicle search.

Sabulsky then asked the passenger, identified as Lanette Lister, 48, of the 100 block of South First Street, Lehighton, to join Johnston at the back of the vehicle while he searched the car.

During the conversation, Sabulsky smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana on Lister. She said she had a roach in a cigarette pack.

Sabulsky took the pack and noticed the marijuana, as well as methamphetamine and an oxycodone.

After Lister was taken into custody, Johnston admitted to having some meth in the vehicle and told Sabulsky where to locate it.

Johnston was taken into custody, and an additional search located several items that are used as drug paraphernalia.

Johnston was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lister was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
