Man charged with allegedly raping two minors

A Wayne County man has been charged with the alleged rape of two minors.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Kathleen Fallon, a special agent with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section in the case against George Karagiannis:

Fallon received a case referral from Summit Hill police officer Michael Leighton, who said that he had received a sexual assault complaint involving two girls, ages 12 and 13, on July 25.

The girls said they met a man, first identified as “John M,” on a social media site called Omegle.

One girl said they started talking on Snapchat and that the male’s Snapchat user name is “Blankman5590.”

The other girl said that the man, Karagiannis, 28, of Honesdale, asked them to send him nude pictures of them, and that at first she didn’t want to, but they ended up sending him pictures of her private area and that the man then sent back a face picture and then a picture of his private area.

Victim No. 2 said that Karagiannis asked both victims to meet him and that he would pick them up in his truck. Both victims stated that Karagiannis asked them to wear dresses and to meet him at the park by their house, and both said they put on dresses and did their hair before sneaking out of the house at midnight.

The victims said that this occurred possibly May 25 or May 26, and that they were sexually assaulted by Karagiannis in Summit Hill.

On July 29, an interview was conducted at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Scranton, where both victims restated the events reported to Leighton.

Earlier this month, Leighton presented the victims with a photo lineup with eight men, who both identified Karagiannis as the suspect, as well as the pickup that was parked in the driveway in Honesdale where the sexual assaults occurred.

On Tuesday, agents from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Pennsylvania State Police and the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office executed a search warrant for the property in Honesdale and for Karagiannis’ 2013 GMC Sierra pickup.

They were met by Karagiannis’ mother, who said that her son, Karagiannis, was at work.

He was charged later in the day.

Karagiannis faces charges of rape of a child; statutory sexual assault; aggravated indecent assault; corruption of minors; unlawful contact with a minor; sexual abuse of children; and criminal use of a communication facility.

He is incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 straight bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Oct. 7 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
