Tamaqua woman is charged in sale of bath salts
A Tamaqua woman is one of three people arrested Thursday by Mahanoy City Police on drug-related charges.
Krystle Ketchledge, 24, of 227 Lafayette St., Tamaqua, was arrested after a confidential informant told police about being able to purchase bath salts from the woman. The informant was provided with marked bills and a buy was set up at the corner of Mahanoy Avenue and Twelfth Street. The informant met with Ketchledge and Brian M. Obrzut, 44, of 153 W. Washington St., Shenandoah, and the action then moved to Pine Street.Officers then approached the vehicle. Ketchledge dropped three bags, filled with a white powder that tested positive for bath salts, as she was being removed from the driver's seat. Obrzut proved to be uncooperative, struggling with police as they tried to place him in handcuffs.Ketchledge, who had additional drugs tucked in her waistband, was charged with felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor offenses of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Obrzut was charged with the same offenses as well as a charge of resisting arrest. The third drug-related arrest was made a little earlier in the evening, when police seized heroin at a home at 217 W. Mahanoy Ave.The drugs were found after a confidential informant told police that Ryan Hasara, 42, had traveled to Hazleton and bought a brick (five bundles) of heroin.Officers went to the home and conducted a search after being given permission by the person who leases the property. They found drug paraphernalia in the apartment, three bags of heroin in Hasara's wallet and the five bundles hidden in a ceiling tile in an upstairs room.Hasara was charged with felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor offenses of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. All three were arraigned by duty District Judge David J. Rossi of Tremont, who set bail at $25,000 straight cash bail each. The defendants were unable to post bail and were all lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.
