L. Towamensing holds recycling day

Care to recycle any old, unwanted, broken and outdated electronics and appliances?

If so, then bring them to a free electronics recycling day in Lower Towamensing Township.The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the township municipal building, 595 Hahn's Dairy Road.Items that may be recycled free of charge include desktops/laptop computers; keyboards and mice; printers/fax machines/floor copiers; cables and cords; telephones/cellphones; calculators/adding machines; UPS battery backups/laptop batteries; toner and ink cartridges; audio visual equipment/plotters; filing cabinets; projectors; DVD players and VCRs; gaming systems; stereos and speakers; microwaves and small appliances; metal items; exercise equipment; car batteries (sealed lead acid) car routers; bed frames and rain spouting; washers and dryers; ranges (stoves), and dishwashers.Additional items that can be recycled with a fee include televisions (tube type), $35; televisions (in wooden cabinet, projection-big screen), $60; CRT monitors (tube type), $15; LCD monitors (LCD and plasma TVs), $15; air conditioners, $25; dehumidifiers, $25; refrigerators, $30; and floor freezers, $30.There will also be document destruction services (on-site) for a fee. The fees are $10 per standard paper size box, or $15 per garbage bag.Cash or checks only. Checks are to be made payable to Lower Towamensing Township.No broken televisions will be accepted.The township will also hold a cleanup day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Stoney Ridge Park along Fireline Road.The township will provide gloves and water, but helpers are asked to bring work clothes with them.
