Carbon County Commissioners

Carbon County Commissioners on Thursday took the following action:

• Approved the award of funding in the amount of $66,487, for Coronavirus emergency supplemental funding through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for the term March 16, through March 16, 2022.

• Approved a Senior Community Center grant agreement for the Weatherly Senior Center projects. Expected allocation for the project is $5,100.

• Awarded the contract for the Mahoning Township street improvements Community Development Block Grant project to H&K Group Inc. of Skippack for $147,025.63.

• Rejected CDBG bids for the Lehighton Borough ADA handicap ramp replacement at the corners of Iron Street (2nd to 6th streets).

• Approved submission of a Rights and Services Act grant application/agreement to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency in the amount of $94,570.

• Approved a proposal from Earthres Group Inc. of Pipersville, to observe and document fire pond construction activities and liner installation as part of the emergency operations and training center project in Nesquehoning Borough. Costs are $90 per hour for professional fees, $42 per day for a mobilization fee, $40.25 for destructive seam testing (each sample), and $225 for miscellaneous expenses.

• Approved an agreement with ESRI of Redlands, Calif., for services to update the current GIS/IT architecture to include configuration of security, hardware and software at a total cost of $12,600.

• Approved the renewal for special risk accident coverage for county volunteers for period of Oct. 1, to Oct. 1, 2021. The carrier is Gerber Life Insurance Company through CCAP insurance programs. The annual premium is $340.

• Approved a waiver of the county’s land development application fee and provide a letter of support for the Valor Clinic’s proposed Veteran’s Unstoppable facility in Kidder Township.

• Extended the agreement with Ethos Clinic of Emmaus to provide psychiatric services at the correctional facility for an additional two years commencing Nov. 1, through Oct. 31, 2022. Ethos will provide four hours of services per week with rates of $150 per hour for the psychiatrist and $125 per hour for a physician assistant.
