Local community members will gather in Josiah White Park in Jim Thorpe at 6 p.m. Tuesday to focus on world peace through poetry, spoken word and music.

Tibetan bells will be played by artist and author David Price. Local musicians will perform, including Thomas Dressler who will play "Marseillaise," the French national anthem.The event is free and open to the public. It is a BYOC (Bring your own candle), and will kick off with bells played by St. Mark's Episcopal Church and will commence with members of the local music and spiritual community participating to raise the vibration of peace.Michelle Gallagher, a political and spiritual activist, got the idea for this event after witnessing negative backlash in social and mainstream media over the recent attacks in Paris and in response to Syrian refugees."I want to thank the Carbon County Commissioners who swiftly gave me permission to have use of the park without pause," says Gallagher.Within an hour, the event quickly took off through social media and is encouraged to be held in as many places simultaneously as possible.Current members of the virtual event on Facebook hail from Las Vegas, New Orleans, Los Angeles, New York and even the local city of Bethlehem, and mention that they will hold private or public events at the same time.Five years ago, Gallagher created The White Light Army, an online outreach to cultivate peace, love and harmony between all souls that inhabit the earth."Only fear separates us. Love is the ultimate cure."Today, she is more than ready to take that ideology to the streets."It's time we stepped away from our laptops and started looking to the future, today," says Gallagher. "We can't be complacent. Let's create peace in the world by starting right where we are on and offline.
