West Penn supervisors discussed the following this week:

• The township is looking into alternatives for public recycling bins in the township. The bins are costly and could result in increased taxes.

• West Penn Township recognized the Tamaqua Soccer organization. The word “area” will be added to the sign at the field. Many people who use the field do not specifically reside in Tamaqua.

• The West Penn Lions’ annual chicken barbecue dinner will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 12. Because of social distancing guidelines, dinners will be pickup only. The pickup location will be at the Zion Stone church on Cemetery Road in New Ringgold.
