Lukasevich appointed to veterans committee

Carbon County Commissioner Chris Lukasevich has been appointed vice chairman of the Veterans and Military Services Committee, National Association of Counties.

“I look forward to working with Carbon County’s Veterans Affair Director Christine LeClair to ensure that policy initiatives at the strategic level, aka federal level, nest with the actual needs at the tactical level, Carbon County and its approximately 5,400 Carbon veterans,” said Lukasevich, who is also a veteran, in a post on the commissioners’ Facebook page Thursday.

The National Association of Counties strengthens America’s counties, serving nearly 40,000 county elected officials and 3.6 million county employees. Founded in 1935, NACo unites county officials to:

• Advocate county priorities in federal policymaking;

• Promote exemplary county policies and practices;

• Nurture leadership skills and expand knowledge networks;

• Optimize county and taxpayer resources and cost savings; and

• Enrich the public’s understanding of county government.
